Here is a restored version of the painting for reference:
`
It was only until this restored copy was made that we could see the painting clearly. We can now see Judas, the traitor, and his bag of money hidden under his sleeve. Judas is the fourth person at the table from the left, with brown hair.
We can now also see that a hand in this painting is carrying a knife.
We can now also see that a hand in this painting is carrying a knife.
But, there is even more to this painting than meets the eye. If we were to have an almost transparent copy of the painting and flip it over the painting, it should look something like this:
We can now almost see two templar knights sitting at either side of the table. We can also see a woman (who could be Mary Magdalene) next to Jesus carrying a baby in her arms. Sadly, the painting is very damaged, due to age, exposure to light and being burnt in a fire, and it is very hard to see.
Dan Brown's theory was that Jesus marries Mary Magdalene, who is supposedly sitting on the left of Jesus, had children with her and that the descendants still live today.
Another Theory is that Mary and Jesus' baby is hidden in Judas' arm.
Also, we can see that Andrew (Third from the left) is very surprised and is looking in the direction of the baby.
There are many secrets hidden within the painting, most of which are very recent and have only been discovered in the past three years. Maybe there are even many more yet to be uncovered.
The study of Leonardo's secrets has become so popular that many books have been written about this painting, the most famous of all being Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code'. Dan Brown's version was even turned into a full-length movie full of mystery and suspense.
